Eco Schools Green Flag with Distinction

Blue Coat is delighted to have achieved the Eco Schools Green Flag with Distinction, the highest level of recognition within the Eco Schools Green Flag accreditation.

The award recognises the commitment of our students and staff to environmental action and sustainability and celebrates the positive difference our school community is making to protect and care for our world.

Our environmental work reflects our responsibility to care for creation and encourages students to understand that their actions can make a meaningful difference, both within our school and in the wider community.

Global Neighbours Gold Award

Blue Coat is proud to have achieved the Global Neighbours Gold Award, recognising our commitment to living out our Christian vision through global citizenship, courageous advocacy and serving others. Awarded by Christian Aid and the Church of England Education Office, the Gold Award celebrates schools that inspire young people to challenge injustice, embrace diversity and make a positive difference both locally and globally.

The assessment praised the way our Christian vision, Living life in all its fullness John 10:10, is woven throughout every aspect of school life, alongside the opportunities our students have to engage with issues of equality, sustainability, peace, inclusion and social justice. It also recognised the significant role our curriculum, collective worship and student leadership play in developing compassionate, informed and courageous global citizens.

KMAT Great Debate

Blue Coat students achieved an outstanding result at the KMAT Great Debate, finishing 3rd overall against schools from across the region.

Our students were also crowned Debate Room Winners, demonstrating exceptional teamwork, confidence, critical thinking and communication throughout the competition. Three Blue Coat students were additionally recognised as Stand Out Debaters, celebrating their individual performances during the event.

The Great Debate gives young people the opportunity to develop their public speaking skills, challenge different perspectives and construct thoughtful and persuasive arguments. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented Blue Coat and demonstrated the confidence to make their voices heard.

Pride Group of the Year

Blue Coat is incredibly proud that our Pride Group has been named Pride Group of the Year by Just Like Us, the UK's LGBT+ young people's charity. The award recognises schools that empower students to lead positive change and create inclusive environments where every young person feels safe, valued and able to thrive.

Our award winning Pride Group was recognised for placing student voice at the heart of school life. Working alongside staff, members have helped shape our PSHE curriculum, promote inclusion, encourage respectful language, and champion a culture where everyone feels a true sense of belonging.

Congratulations to every member of our Pride Group on this outstanding achievement. We could not be prouder.
